Project Management

Project management is primarily about efficiently and effectively managing a project of any description against cost, time and the availability of appropriate resources, for client’s, as applicable. Some organisations are large enough to have an in house project team capability, whilst the majority of businesses don’t. They choose to engage project management consultants to undertake the work.

Project management is not “Rocket Science”, however if the correct building blocks are not in place, and the correct procedures and or processes are not followed, the project may be doomed for failure.

The Ridgehill Resources team has over the years, worked across a various range of industries at varying total installed cost levels. This has provided the team a clear insight of how projects could be better managed and executed against the Client's corporate governance parameters and guidelines.

Our success has shown that by actioning the following activities as early as possible, the majority of projects will have a better chance of being successful.

  • Understanding of the Client’s business drivers.

  • Understanding and identifying the Client’s appetite for risk (Commercial and Project risk) the early development of a study implementation or Project execution plan is paramount as it communicates the scope of work and how the work is being undertaken and by whom. It is the road map to success if it is accurately written.

  • Assisting the Client in the development of a bespoke Work Breakdown Structure.

  • Undertaking and developing the scope of work in conjunction with the Client’s flow sheet and in line with the Client’s procedures and processes.

  • Providing accurate progress reports for all phases of the project.

  • Managing and closely monitoring cost control/ change management.

  • Managing the planning and progress measurement against actual deliverables.

  • Providing estimating services, based on current industry norms and or first principles.

  • Providing management of the Client’s third party engineering teams.

  • Managing / reviewing and subsequently mitigating the project risks continually during the total project lifecycle.

  • Assisting in the identification of any modularisation and preassembly works, during the engineering phase, to minimise site hours.

  • Facilitating regular Value Improvement (VIP) workshops to ensure no preferential engineering is included in the design, whilst maintaining “Best for Project” outcomes.

  • Managing the fabrication of equipment or structures at source, setting the priorities to suit site construction sequencing including the management of subcontractors.

  • Assisting the Client, in some instances, develop low cost process plants with a lower life expectancy, which will bring in revenue in earlier, in order to develop and construct a more suitable plant with a life span of 20-25 years.
